AN/PRC-117

Good audio coming from the radio, garbled/buzz audio going out over the radio to the distant end.

My original configuration was the the Router (3825) was not the default gateway for the network due to it's location. We are using an ASA as the default gateway for this network. The router and switch are in a separate room on the other side of the building where the radio has to be.
All the switches are configured as layer 3. Trunking is configured between the switches. All switches and router and asa have ip mulitcast-routing enabled and ip pim sparse-dense-mode enabled on the interfaces.

3825 g0/1->Switch with wave server->switch->switch->switch->asa

Wave client is running on a pc off the middle switch and the switch connected to the wave server.

If i call on the radio using wave, you can hear it crystal clear on the other wave client but garbled on the distant end radio. A call from the distant end radio comes across clear on both clients, so I'm assuming that my multicast is working properly. I'm just wondering if it is a problem with the interface to the radio.

If i segment the network off, where the router, and wave server/switch are in their own network, with the g0/0 port connected out to the rest of the network, the client off the wave server switch can make and receive clear audio over the net. Also, the client on the main network can also hear the transmissions clearly, but can not transmit clear audio to the distant end.

Sorry for the long winded post, hopefully it is clear. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Make sure the radio is in PT mode. If it's AM try it in FM instead.

Make sure your config is good http://forum.twistpair.com/showthread.php?t=1454

Try different cables and also send test tones out the voice-port "local" so they come out the radio. This will tell you if it's a voice-port configuration issue or not.

Here is another thread that might have some useful tips in it as well http://forum.twistpair.com/showthread.php?t=2537
