Essentially you need the System32 directory from whichever WAVE version you're trying to install. In this example it was 1.1.

Let's start with the machine you recently upgraded to ArcGIS 9.1, I'm thinking it may have installed some DLL files that are incompatible with WAVE. Below is a link to the System32 directory found in the WAVE 1.1 installation package, I have zipped it up to make it easier to download.

I want you to shutdown WAVE and ArcGIS, copy these DLL files into C:\WINNT\System32. You will want to overwrite all the files when prompted. You will need to be Administrator when installing WAVE and when copying these files over. If you get an error that a file is already in use, then rename that file with a _ at the beginning of it's name and try to copy it over again. While this process has never given me any trouble, you may want to backup the DLL files prior to overwriting them, just in case.

Here is the DLL's for WAVE 1.1 (http://www.twistpair.com/~keith/System32.zip)

When trying to install ArcGIS and WAVE, I would start with ArcGIS and then install WAVE. This is so you can fix any DLL incompatibility issues ArcGIS may have caused. If you install WAVE first and then ArcGIS it probably wont work. Either way you may need to replace DLL files that I've linked above.

This example is on Windows 2k, if you're using Server 2K3 or XP the path to the DLLs is C:\WINDOWS\system32

Prior to getting the LAN interface, I was using an RFXCom USB interface.

My USB interface is the FTDI FT232 version and I never experienced any connection issues at all. What operating system / home automation software are you using?
