an error has occurred while trying to start the channel, ERROR: The Media Manager object does not exist

This will happen when you try to log in to Desktop Communicator and Windows no longer recognizes a sound device.

This happens if you have a USB soundcard that is removed. An example of this was a customer who moved locations but forgot their external soundcard.

I get this error every time I start up wave. It gives me "An error has occured while trying to start the channel. Error: The MediaManager object does not exist" and then its says something along the lines of "Smithinhizer USB headset not found." because I had to switch the headset from a one earphone headset, to a two earphone headset which is now logitec. When WAVE comes up the channel I normally use will not recognize the headset, BUT, if I add a new channel, WAVE recognizes the new headset. The only quick fix Ive found is plugging in the old headset, (and new one at the same time) starting WAVE, and then unplugging the old headset, and it works. Is there a cashe somewhere that I can clear so that, that channel is not looking for my old headset?

The user preferences are saved on the server and on the local PC. It is easier to create a new user account and start fresh than tracking down the preferences files. You didn't mention what client and version of WAVE you are using but something to check would be the audio override check box (it is labeled as Ovr). What happens if you delete the channel on the server and the recreate it? That may be the easiest fix!
